4.0 System Setup
4.1 Mounting the System
The TSS-4 is compact and lightweight; even so, it is important to locate a stable and secure
mounting surface for mounting. The unit has a flange along each side, with clearance holes
for mounting with machine screws. Although horizontal mounting is preferred (both for best
access and appearance), the solid-state technology allows mounting in any position.
4.2 Wiring the System
Refer to the rear-panel connector layout in Section 2.0. At a minimum, the Power Supply
connections (DC+ / DC- / ACC) and Camera/Microphone connections must be made.
Additional connections (USB, Sensor Inputs, etc.) are at the discretion of the installer, and
dependent upon the application requirements.
4.3 Turn on the System and Log in
• During setup, connect a video monitor (or TV with A/V input) to the VOUT of the unit.
This will provide a 'window' for programming the system, and verifying camera sight-
lines.
• Turn on the vehicle ignition. The system should start up, and in a few moments it will
display a live view of your cameras. Note that each channel will be identified with its
associated channel number, with a small icon at the lower right of each image. The
number will have a white background when not recording, and a red background when
recording.
• Note that there is an information bar at the bottom of the screen, which displays the
current date and time, and other system information. These can be toggled off and on
by pressing ENTER on the remote control.
4.4 System Access
The TSS-4 provides password-protected access. If a password has been activated by setting
Password Valid to <Close>, then anyone can change system settings in the menu. If
Password Valid is set to <Open>, then changes can be made only after entering the
proper password.
